Elite Stratocaster (1983-1984)

Model info: While the 1983 revised version of the Standard Stratocaster seemed to be a step backward, the Elite was designed to represent a step forward. Like the revised Standard, it also incorporated the Freeflyte tremolo system. Other features included three Alnico II pickups, 1 volume and 2 tone control knobs, push button pickup selectors (instead of the usual selector blade), active MDX (mid-range) and TBX (high-range) electronics (making it battery operated, so to speak), and a flat 12″ fingerboard radius. The output jack was located on the side of the body instead of the top. Of perhaps more significance was the Elite’s introduction of the Biflex truss rod system that allows for concave or convex adjustments without reliance on string tension.

Notes:
The Elite was offered in some interesting finish colors, including Pewter (shown below), Mocha Brown, Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red, Emerald Green, Candy Apple Green, and, Stratoburst.
