Neck width at the nut is 1 5/8". Thickness of the "D" profile neck is 13/16" at the nut and 7/8" at the 12th fret. When the author acquired the instrument in the late 1970's it was virtually unplayable due to fret wear. The neck received new original size frets and a new bone nut at that time. After moving to a desert climate, the neck shrank enough to cause the sharp fret ends to protrude, which required professional maintenance. The replacement frets were leveled and resurfaced at that time. It now plays like a dream. It is a marvel to the author that even after 50 years the maple neck wood was not yet stable.
