Jimi Hendrix Fender Stratocaster to be Auctioned on November 20, 2004

On Saturday, November 20, 2004, the Cooper Owen auction house will offer a circa 1961 Fender Stratocaster (see image below) once owned and played by Jimi Hendrix. This instrument, lot #195, is part of the Hendrix memorabilia collection represented by Cooper Owen that is on display at the Marquee Club in London and that will be sold in various auctions, the first of which will be held November 20, at the Marquee Club.

Jimi Hendrix Auction - Part One 20/11/2004 03:00 PM, Lot No. 195
A circa 1960 / 61 Sunburst Fender Stratocaster guitar Serial number 72961 owned and used by Jimi Hendrix. An extensively, concert played and studio used Sunburst Fender Stratocaster given to Bob Levine by Jimi.
The lot is accompanied by a letter from Bob Levine confirming the guitar's authenticity. Bob Levine and his wife Kathy worked closely with Hendrix in the US, Bob was a key member of Hendrix' management team, working with him from 1967 until 1970, acting as 'power broker' controlling Jimi's American enterprises.
It was Bob who took the call from Jerry Stickells in London to Jeffrey & Chandler Inc. offices in New York on 18 September 1970 telling of Jimi's death.
Kathy Levine (then Eberth) was Jimi's P.A. and confidante from 1968 to 1970.
