Experience Hendrix to Launch Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert Tour in February, 2004, and Release Hendrix Tribute CD in May

Experience Hendrix, the company founded in 1995 by the Hendrix family to oversee the estate assets of Jimi Hendrix who died in 1970, has announced that a national tour of all-star artists performing Jimi Hendrix tribute concerts will launch in February, 2004.

Three concert dates and venues have been announced so far:

February 22, 2004, Seattle, Washington, at the Paramount Theater

February 24, 2004, Portland, Oregon, at the Roseland Theater

February 26, 2004, San Francisco, California, at the Warfield Theater

Each concert will offer a somewhat different line up of all-star performers.

Scheduled to appear at the February 22nd date in Portland are: Buddy Guy; Kenny Wayne Sheperd; Living Colour; Jerry Cantrell (former Alice in Chains guitarist); Indigenous; Kenny Olson (lead guitarist for Kid Rock); Hubert Sumlin (former lead guitarist for Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters); Sheldon Reynolds (guitarist with Earth, Wind and Fire); Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble rhythm section Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton; original Jimi Hendrix Experience members, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox; and Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company, who has been added as a special guest.

The line up for the February 24th date in Portland includes: Buddy Guy; Living Colour; Jerry Cantrell; Indigenous; Mitch Mitchell; Billy Cox; and Double Trouble.

Set to perform at the February 26th date in San Francisco are: Buddy Guy; Paul Rodgers; Jerry Cantrell; Indigenous; Mitch Mitchell; Billy Cox; Double Trouble; Sheldon Reynolds; and Joe Satriani.

According to Experience Hendrix, concert-goers can expect to hear Hendrix classics such as “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)”, “Hey Joe”, “Red House”, “Little Wing” and many others. As an added bonus, the concerts will feature Hendrix biographical information, interactive kiosks, and video footage.

The Hendrix tribute concerts will be produced by Experience Hendrix, whose President and CEO, Janie Hendrix, says, "We felt strongly that a live presentation of the music that Jimi Hendrix created and which inspired him would be an exciting and unique way of conveying his relevance to today's audiences."

Experience Hendrix has also announced that it will release a tribute CD in May, 2004, entitled Power of Soul, containing both new and previously unreleased recordings by Eric Clapton, Sting, Prince, Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan with Double Trouble, and other well-known performers.
