Pamelina H. Background Information
I was born into an artistic family at an army base in New Jersey, but soon thereafter re-located to Monterey Bay, California, where I grew up. Coming from a long artistic heritage, I was encouraged to paint as soon as I could smear paint on paper.
At an early age, I discovered publications such as Eerie and Creepy and fell in love with horror/fantasy and the accompanying art. I was greatly influenced by the art of Frank Frazetta and read everything I could about him. I was lucky to find an article written about his wife and her approach to the rights of commercial artists. My first illustration was published in the fan pages of Vampirella Magazine #11 when I was 9. Greatly encouraged by this, I pursued a life as a commercial artist. I began working before I graduated high school. My first commissioned illustrations were published at the age of 17 by Gallery and Hooker Magazines. At the age of 21, I moved to Europe and settled in the town of Arnhem, Holland. Several pieces were published there by SF Terra Magazine. I participated in a sci-fi/fantasy show at the RAI, Amsterdam and held 2 exhibitions in Arnhem. I also worked as a window painter and did "portraits" of storefronts which I easily sold. My work is all over the town. Unfortunately, the weather in Holland eventually took its toll on me and I returned to California in 1985. Meeting a lot of musicians, I soon found great demand for my work on guitars. In 1989, I attended my first musical instrument convention (NAMM) and made many contacts. I've since painted over 1000 guitars, mostly for Fender's Custom Shop. I've also painted for Ibanez Guitars, Dean and Hamer, among others. I also painted other musical instruments for many noteworthy musicians. My first drum set was painted for Rikki Rockett from Poison. I've also painted for Soundgarden, Sheila E. and Cinderella. I even painted a gong for Mick Fleetwood. From there, I went into music merchandise, creating tour shirt designs for everybody from Megadeth to Genesis to Jimmy Buffett. But even more fun, was the work done for Warner Bros. Looney Tunes line. During all that, I continued to pursue my original work as well. In 1995, Celestial Mermaids was printed by Landmark Calendars. That was followed up the next year by Goddesses. A new line of mermaids were created for Tattoo Magazine and were included in their 1997 calendar and have been featured as centerfolds in several publications. One of my greatest joys, though, has been establishing my website. It's so wonderful to hear from people all over the world and have e-conversations about art & events. I have e-friends all over this planet... [Source] |
