My Clapton Strat

I have a 06 eric clapton start and I want to take the mid boost off, what be the best way to do so? If you any suggestions please let me know, I just want to make it my own and its not a collector's guitar but a player's guitar. I basically want to make it like the original "Blackie" as I can.

Any Clue About This 60's/1972 4-bolt?

I referenced this guitar in another post, but I thought to link to it here as well separately. I'm curious about what others may think about this guitar.

To me, it looks like a mid '60s body/pickguard/shield with 1972 features everywhere else. Not the oddity with the 4-bolt neck. Has later '72+ patent numbers but is a 4-bolt with what looks like maple-filled top where bullet truss rod would go and of course no circular 3-bolt routing at the heel. Some have speculated that the neck could have been a Fender order parts replacement as Fender continued to supply 4-bolt necks as special order for earlier guitars. Interesting guitar nevertheless and I'm curious/excited to receive it (I was the winning bidder on it).

Any thoughts/theories?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=180349819484

Vintage Namm Show Or 'one-off' Special Stratocasters Documented?

Are there any resources available that have documented any of the rare one-off custom 'artist order' Strats or NAMM show variants that were produced during the pre-CBS and CBS-era? I have to imagine that this would be a VERY cool thing to see/document, if it exists or is even possible to document at this time.

Fender Factory-supplied Spare Parts In The 1970's?

Does anyone have information about spare parts that Fender supplied, i.e. 4-bolt Stratocaster replacement necks that were BUILT in the 1970's for use as repair parts on earlier models? This is an area of the vintage realm I have heard really nothing about.

Sould I Refinish My 1973 Strat?!

Hey

Here is my dilema.
I have a sunburst 1973 strat. Everything original apart from a replacement bridge pickup (somepoint a long time ago before i bought it). Good playing condition (not beat up, not pristine). 3 bolt neck, no tremelo, bullet rod pokes out at the top of the neck, etc. A really nice guitar.
Check the image below:

Problem is, i want a white one. I know, who doesnt right?
Thing is i am well aware that re-finishing vintage guitars is a general no no. But conisdering what i paid for it (About 1600 - 1700 pounds from vintage and rare in london) , i have seen refins go for more than that online. And not even white ones.
This is my problem, i dont love it and have considered trading it in, but for a start i'd be out of pocket at this point, and theres no way id get a white one for that kind of price anyway. If i even found one.

Any thoughts would be kindly appreciated.

Steve
London

Forums Are Finally Back Again

As most of you know, we closed the forums back in December of 2007 after they were hacked for the second time. Between the hacking and all the spammers who tried to join, we debated whether or not to reinstitute the forums - obviously deciding to bring them back. There were just too many good posts with useful information to keep them offline.

Hopefully, this version of the software will withstand the hackers. Guess the spammers will be back, but we'll deal with them.

Although the same company provided the software for this software release, we have changed the look and feel of the forums. The new software is much more powerful and the old skin we used simply couldn't support all the new features. Hope your eyes get used to the new look and that you come to like it.

Welcome back!

Tom Watson

White Strat Colors, Help!

Hey, I'v got some questions about strat colors. So there are 3 white shades.... Olympic white, Arctic White, and vintage white...

Arctic white, is the classic we all know and love right (Hendrix, Malmsteen, Blackmore, Johnson, Uli Jon Roth)? the old ones faded to a creamier shade... Which is where the vintage white comes in, to replicate the faded arctic white? Correct??

and what year was vintage white introduced?

Uh oh I think I mightve totally messed that up? mybe olympic whie is that classic color? when I see pics of new ones they are perfectly white... and although I know the old strats faded... I have never seen a picture of an olympi white strat... even old factor photos, or hendrix new strat from like woodstock...
